🤔 Who was Sgt Karen Hermiston?
Ms Hermiston was Canada's only female photographer during WWII.

🤔 Were Indigenous people involved during WWII?
Yes, Marion Miller Hill was one; born and
raised in the Six Nations community near Brantford, ON,
she recalls trying to enlist as a young teenager.

🤔 Was there an 2SLGBTQ+ movement in wartimes?
There certainly was - unfortunately if was mostly frowned upon. Many people were targeted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as part of the "gay purge."
Luckily it was not enough to stop the movement.

💡 Many women, Indigenous people, international minorities including BIPOC & 2SLGBTQ+ people contributed to these historical events, they will have special sections with stories about them. Discover more of these fantastic people in our museum.
